Time to relax with Jackie's book review

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
A delightful and witty book written by a woman who unfortunately passed away
before her book was published. Annie Barrows is the niece who published her
aunt's book and am sure is very glad she did!
This novel's story is formed by a series of letters. I was wondering before
I read it how that was going to create a story that flowed but it does! The
main subject, Miss Juliet Ashton writes with such dry wit and heart-warming
words that you can't help but fall in love with this book. A perfect one to
pick up after a few hours of hard work in the garden.
This book makes you feel good - the story is written during the war and
centred around the character's lives in the English Channel, it provides
wonderful eccentric and loveable characters that you just want to meet! It
shows how people in times of hardship can pull together and with like minded
optimism, get through their hardships.
This book is a must read and one that I can recommend to so many for it's
delightful characters, humour and beautiful writing. It is indeed a literary
masterpiece that will be remembered for years to come. I know if you read
this book you will love it so please, sit down and have well deserved time
out with this fantastic book.
